Seeing Others Through the Eyes of Jesus

Over time, it is easy to form a picture of someone's character based on their actions. Yet God sees far beyond what is visible. He sees the gifts, purpose, and potential He placed within every person. When we ask Him to shape our perspective, He helps us look beyond difficult behavior and discover the treasure He has created in each life.

"They shall be Mine," says the Lord of hosts, "On the day that I make them My jewels." – Malachi 3:17

Look Beyond the Surface

Seeing people through God's eyes doesn't excuse harmful behavior, but it changes how we respond to it. Jesus consistently looked past outward behavior and saw the heart. He welcomed those who felt forgotten, misunderstood, and overlooked, offering compassion when others expected condemnation.

When someone is difficult to love, ask God to help you see beyond what is immediately visible. A defensive attitude may be hiding fear, a harsh response may come from deep hurt, a lack of motivation may reveal someone who has forgotten their worth. These realities do not excuse harmful behavior, but they can help us understand the hurt behind it and act with greater compassion.

Speak Life into Others

Every person has God given value, even when it is not immediately obvious. Sometimes all it takes is one encouraging voice to help someone recognize the potential God is already developing in their life.

Ask the Lord to show you one encouraging truth you can speak into someone's life today. A genuine compliment, thoughtful encouragement, or reminder of their God given value may be exactly what God uses to restore hope and build confidence. As you begin encouraging others you may discover your own heart changing too.

A Prayer for God’s Perspective

"Jesus, You lived among the hurting, confused, frustrated, and forgotten. Help me see beyond outward behavior and recognize the value You have placed within each person I meet.

Show me the gifts, strengths, and purpose You are developing in ____________. Fill my interactions with Your compassion, patience, and wisdom. Give me words that encourage, build up, and reflect Your love.

Help me never give up on the people You have not given up on. In Jesus' name, Amen.”

Every interaction is an opportunity to reflect the heart of Christ. When you begin looking for the treasure God has placed within others, your expectations begin to change. Frustration gives way to compassion, criticism becomes encouragement, and relationships become places where hope can grow.
